Hungaroplan #3750

27 september 2009 - Budapest (HU) – Szentendre. Now housed in the BKV Transport Museum, the Hungaroplan prototype is unique. Built as a design experiment in the BKV works, parts were taken from a Ganz CSMG2 car, from Ikarus buses and even from cars of the period. It worked in service until 2007 but is now withdrawn and seems unlikely to run again.

27 september 2009 - Budapest (HU) – Szentendre. I’ve tried before to take a good photo of this Ikarus in the BKV museum, but it is always squeezed in by other buses and impossible. So, I waited until this day, when the others were out in the city – hooray!

Ganz Hunslet G2 #400

27 september 2009 - Budapest (HU) – Szentendre. A motor car of the prototype Ganz-Hunslet G2 metro train built for Budapest has now been sent to the BKV/HEV museum. No more of these will be built, as a different manufacturer has been chosen for the replacement fleet.

1941 - Budapest. This very strange vehicle is pictured in the Szentendre bus and tram museum and I thought you would like to see it. It’s a petrol-engined coach converted into a tram - amazing! I know nothing about it or where it ran, although perhaps it was a war-time conversion. It now exists only in this photograph (photographer unknown).

Ikarus 180.72 #GA-96-00

13 may 2004 - Szentendre (HU) –BKV Public Transport Museum. There are two nice Ikarus buses in this museum, but they are unfortunately impossible to photograph, being closed in by other vehicles. This Ikarus 180 does come out for special events occasionally, though.

19 may 2008 - It was restored in last year, but rumours say, this is just a replica - the original vehicle was scrapped, because it was in very bad condition (BKV havn't used that since 1995).

Ikarus 260T1 #600

19 may 2008 - Szentendre, BKV Public Transport Museum. Only 2 Ikarus 260 type trolleybus were built in Hungary, this was the first one in the middle '70s. The body was originally made for a "Volán" company (that's why it is not red, than the other trolleys in Budapest), BKV bought it and equipped it with a ZIU-5 main electric. Although, this was a quite good trolleybus in that days, Budapest bought ZIU-9s, because the russian vehicles were much more cheaper.
