13 june 2008 - Dublin, Parliament Street. English bus constructors have a general tendency to use Star Wars motifs. Whereas East Lancs Coachbuilders quite fancied the shape of Lord Vader's helmet when creating the Lolyne, Alexander Dennis preferred to use General Grevious on the Enviro 500 :) This is generally the 3 axle version of the Enviro 400, destined more for the likes of Hong Kong, the US and Canada, where it successfully serves Toronto at GO Transit.

13 june 2008 - Dublin, Mary’s Abbey. A photogenic Citadis heads towards Conmaile, or in English - towards Dublin Connolly rail station. Irish is generally a lovely language - their Prime Minister is called a 'Taoiseach', the cops are the 'Garda Siochana', and the street is simply a 'Sraid' :)

13 june 2008 - Dublin, Parnell Square. Such American-looking monsters came to Dublin between 1997 and 1999. Only after 2000 did Dublin start buying low-floor vehicles. Generally - looking at the quality of services provided by Dublin Bus, a state-owned company in a regulated market, I'm starting to understand why the UK opted for deregulation, assuming British bus companies were in a similar state back then. Dublin Bus only accepts exact payments in coins, the network map looks a whole lot worse than the MPK Poznan one, and the shortest-duration integrated ticket (bus, tram, DART suburban rail) is 24h - and that's despite the fact, that buses (city and suburban/intercity Bus Eirann buses) and the DART belong to the same state-owned holding. But the cherry on top has got to be the timetable format - only departure times from the termini are given, along with travel times between 3-4 waypoints. In a free market like in the UK such a company would not last 5 years.

12 june 2008 - Dublin, Lwr Abbey St. The tram 'network' in Dublin is a little odd - two lines that aren't connected even though their termini are only around 1km from each other. On top of that the passenger numbers on the red line (pictured) were estimated incorrectly and the trams had to be lengthened by two sections almost immediately after the start of service. Hence, this tram is actually a Citadis 301 :) Also, the trams run or standard gauge track, whereas the Irish Railways run on 1600mm - it is therefore impossible to join up the trams and the DART networks in the future. At least the cars don't look too ugly.

8 march 2007 - Dublin, Central Bus Station (Busaras). W Dublinie istnieją dwie bezpośrednie linie autobusowe łączące centrum miasta z lotniskiem. Jedną z nich jest właśnie 747, drugą 748. Pojazdy kursujące na tych liniach wyróżniają się malaturą oraz mają więcej miejsc na bagaże w środku. Gdzieś tam z tyłu na Connoly Station wjeżdża Dart - czyli odpowiednik naszej kolei miejsko-podmiejskiej.

7 march 2007 - Dublin, Oscar Traymore Road. Przedstawiam małą kolekcje zdjęć pojazdów komunikacji miejskiej z Dublina. Pojazdy widoczne na zdjęciu od kilku lat nie pojawiają się już w służbie liniowej - została ich jedynie garstka - wykonują one przewozy szkolne. Nie figurują już w spisie Dublin Busa jako autobusy liniowe. Swoją drogą mam wątpliwości, czy ten Leyland nie powienien być oznaczony jako RH, a nie HF.

W szybach odbija się błękitna Setra tej samej firmy, obsługująca linię która podwozi pasażerów samolotów do kilkunastu hoteli i obydwu głównych dworców Dublina.

Jak widać nikomu nie przeszkadza brak znaku D-15, czego niestety o naszym pięknym kraju powiedzieć nie można (a komu te A i T w kółkach przeszkadzały?)
